Program Abstract

Emergency lighting technologies have the potential to improve safety at roadway incident scenes by providing warning, notification, and directional information to the motoring public. However, current trends in emergency lighting technology, such as LED lights that are brighter and more intense, have created unintentional problems for visibility to drivers. This program examines the history of emergency lighting technology, current trends vs. research, problems with current lighting technologies, and potential solutions to address these problems.
